Happy New Year Vikings, Wildcats, and Buccaneers!

Hard to believe that another year has passed so quickly! Seems like it was just a few months ago that we started planning the 2004 Port City Reunion, and now it’s time to get a jump-start on the plans for 2005.

It would be an understatement to say that the Reunion was well received. Based on YOUR response, the event was “OFF THE CHAIN” and we expect it to be no different this year! Over 150 classmates participated, but there were many others who could not attend, or have yet to be contacted about the reunion. That’s why we plan to host another reunion, giving those who missed out on this fabulous occasion, another opportunity to attend, before making the event bi-annual. If you are new to the website come help us remember all the fun we had in the 80's. Reminiscing about the good times at the 8th street center, boardwalk at Sea Breeze, Sundays at Greenfield Lake and Sportsworld, will make the reunion even more special! If you are new to the website please register so we may be able to contact you with updates.

Here are some of the goals set for the 2005 Port City Reunion, to be held on Labor Day Weekend:

Expand the Graduation years from 1980-1985
Increase awareness and participation by at least 500 classmates
Lengthen the event from Friday through Sunday evening and include the following:
Friday night – Meet & Greet (Place TBA)
Saturday – Cookout –Hugh McCrae Park
Saturday night- Party (Sportsman)
Sunday - Fellowship at Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church
Sunday evening – Semi-formal Reunion Ball at the Hilton Hotel

As you can see, we want to raise the bar for this year’s reunion, taking it to the next level. It’s been more than 20 years since some of us have seen each other. Let’s make this event the kind of reunion we can all look forward to and be proud of. We are planning a Semi-formal Ball, “ EIGHTIES STYLE.” For those of you who missed your senior prom or just want to relive it, this is your chance! Ladies, save for that drop-dead, gorgeous dress and Gentlemen, get jiggy in your Sunday best. Obviously, this will entail higher costs than last year. But we work hard all year, don’t we deserve to treat ourselves? That is why we are contacting you early in the year, so that you can mark your calendar and prepare your finances.

A few of you have inquired about the reunion fees for this year. We are still waiting on a few people to get back to us. We ESTIMATE the fees to be around $80-$85 per person. The Hilton requires a deposit to hold the banquet hall, therefore we need your help to make this years' reunion a reality. We are asking 100 people to volunteer to pay at least $25 towards their reunion fees. If we have at least 100 people to respond, we will be able to reserve all facilities. Funds submitted will be deducted from your total reunion cost. Installment payments are welcomed for those who want to contribute to their fees on a monthly basis. Please make all checks payable to PORT CITY REUNION. Mail checks to 1004 Sheffield Dr. Wilm NC 28411. THE DEPOSIT IS DUE ON OR BEFORE FEBRUARY 11, 2005 so please send your deposit asap. Let's all work together to make this years' reunion a success!

We want everyone to attend, so please let’s plan ahead. Put the word out to the 1980-1981 grads and to 1982-1985 grads that did not attend the 2004 reunion.

I received a great response about the 2005 reunion a few weeks ago. But I have not received enough money to put a deposit down on the banuet hall. If we do not receive the $25 deposit TOWARD your reunion fees to hold the banquet hall by February 11, 2005 we will rethink a 2005 reunion.

Some of you have said that it is too soon for another reunion. But others are hungry for another.
The reason we decided to have one this year is because with adding 1980-1981, we felt that we should keep the excitement going. Also to give the 1982-1985 grads that did not attend the first one a chance to get together with us and experience the fun we had reminscing about the good old days. If you feel it is too soon let me know, If you want another one please send your deposit asap.

If you know of someone that attended the 2004 reunion but does not have an email address please let them know what our plans are and have them send in their deposit. We have only contacted people with email addresses about the 2005 reunion.

We still do not know the final cost yet, we will let you know asap.

We are in the process of planning the reunion for September 3. 2005. We have added the graduating classes of 1980 & 1981. If you know of anyone in those classes that would be interested please have them go to the website and register or have them email me. We are also looking to 1982-1985 graduates that did not attend last year. We are trying to get started soon so that we can step it up this year.

We are planning a day in the park again and also a banquet on sunday night. So plan for friday-Sunday this time. We are trying to secure the Hilton downtown for the banquet on Sunday night. I have already sent in the deposit for the park. But I need your help in putting down a deposit for the banquet. If I could get 100 people to send in atleast $25 TOWARD their reunion dues we will be able to put a deposit down on the banquet facility. Obviously the fees will be more this year. If you would like to send in monthly payments toward your dues or if you want to send in a lump sum
please contact me asap. Tax season is here, so if you want to send in a lump sum if you get a refund please let me know. Please plan accordingly so that you will be able to attend this years reunion.

Again if you are able to send in a payment early so that we will be able to put a deposit down on the banquet facility please let me know.

Thanks

Tammy
